Here’s how to create Stock Items for Finished Goods (Without BOM) in TallyPrime with examples:

1. Accessing Stock Item Creation in TallyPrime:

There are two ways to access Stock Item creation:

  • Gateway of Tally: Go to Gateway of Tally > Inventory Info. > Stock Items > Create.
  • Shortcut: Alternatively, press Alt+G (Go To) > Create Master > type or select Stock Item > press Enter.

2. Creating a Finished Good Stock Item (Without BOM):

  • Name & Alias: In the “Name” field, enter the name of your finished good. You can also specify aliases (alternate names) for the item.
  • Example: Name: Wooden Table (Large)
  • Stock Group: Select the appropriate Stock Group where this finished good belongs. Stock Groups help categorize your inventory.
    • If you haven’t created any Stock Groups yet, you can create one on the fly using Alt+C in the “Under” field.
    • Example: Under: Furniture (if the group exists)
  • Unit: Choose the Unit of Measurement (UOM) applicable to your finished good. This could be pieces, sets, etc.
    • Example: Unit: Nos.
  • Enable Cost Tracking:
    • Set this option to “Yes” if you want to track the individual production cost of each finished good (useful for businesses with varying production costs).
    • Set this option to “No” if you have a standard cost for the finished good and don’t track individual production variations.
  • Saving the Stock Item: Once you’ve filled in the details, press Enter to save the finished good Stock Item.

3. Example: Stock Item for Wooden Table

Creating a Stock Item for Wooden Table (Large):

  • Name: Wooden Table (Large)
  • Alias: (leave blank)
  • Under: Furniture (assuming the group exists)
  • Unit: Nos.
  • Enable Cost Tracking: Yes (assuming you want to track individual production cost)
  • Press Enter to save.

4. Additional Considerations (Optional):

1. Inventory Valuation Method:

You can set a preferred inventory valuation method (Average, FIFO, etc.) for the finished good Stock Item.

By following these steps, you can create Stock Items for all your finished goods (without Bill of Materials) in TallyPrime.

Remember, selecting “Yes” for Enable Cost Tracking allows you to track individual production variances, while “No” assumes a standard cost.
